Where do we get our facts? From real data.
Unfortunately, the level of detail we need isn’t always available, and some extrapolation is necessary. Below we’ve listed our sources and any assumptions made in the data we present. When in doubt, we always assume the situation is as favorable as possible.

Less than half of veterinary support staff earn a living wage.
Sources: Living wage data from Living Wage Calculator . Wage information from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and Veterinary Business Advisors, Inc. .
Assumptions: local data was not available for CSR and veterinary assistant (VA) wages, thus national averages for these roles were compared to national averages for living wages.
For all localities, average veterinary technician wages were either below or less than $1/hr above the living wage; nationally, CSR and VA wages were significantly below an average living wage for the United States. Combining these data, at least half (and likely a much higher percentage) of support team members are being paid less than a living wage. We have tried to be as conservative as possible with this estimate.
